Friendship Bracelets

Hello Everyone, For the past few weeks, I have been making friendship bracelets non-stop. I have branched out. I started of course with Taylor themed ones. But after a while, that gets repetitive. I saw a video of a person who creates themed outfits everytime they see a show. I loved this idea, however could not see myself actually doing it. Thinking back to the little beaded bracelets that seem to be appearing in every theater, I had my idea. I would start by making friendship bracelets for every musical I see. In case you are curious, I use 6/0 glass Czech beads on a clear string to make by bracelets. I use white circular beads with black letters to write out words. In my opinion, this looks like the classiest you can get with homemade friendship bracelets.  I had the idea to go back, make ones for shows like Dear Evan Hansen, and Come From Away. However, those were not exciting to me at this moment. Instead, I buried myself in the shows I want to see. For example, I make t...

Differences between The Outsiders novel and Musical

Hello Everyone,  Now comes the promised analysis on the differences between the novel The Outsiders and the musical. This is not meant to discredit the musical, I am a big fan. I just think it's fun to see what is different.  Dally's Death: This was a very necessary change. so I do not have much to say about it. In the novel, Dally dies after he takes an unloaded gun to perform a robbery. The fact that the gun is unloaded is known only to the other Greasers, who were watching. After being caught by the police, he points the gun at the police, and the police kill him, thinking it was a threat. In the musical, Dally steps in front of a train. I think the change was obvious to be able to put on this show in our time.  Gone With The Wind: In the book, while hiding in the church after the murder of Bob, Ponyboy and Johnny read a copy of Gone with the Wind. Johnny was impressed with the the characters charm and manners, comparing them to Soda and Dally. I did not really m...

The Notebook Musical Review

Hello Everyone, This past weekend, while in New York City, I was able to watch a production of The Notebook. Now if you are expecting a series of good luck, and stories of meeting the cast, like in my The Outsiders review, then you will be disappointed. However, I loved the show, and I have a lot of thoughts about it.  The show is presented with three ages of the main two characters, if you are not familiar with the story, it follows two characters as they fall in love during a summer in high school, then take separate paths that eventually bring them back together. The older version of Allie is played by Maryann Plunkett, who did an incredible job showing the complex emotions of Alzheimer's. It was truly heartbreaking, yet breathtaking. I found her performance one of the most impressive, considering how difficult it must be to convey such a complicated disease, without ever having experienced it first hand.  Middle Allie (Joy Woods) has an incredible voice. As a Broadwa...

Broadway Trends: April 2024

Hello Everyone, This post I thought I could talk about some trends I have noticed on Broadway recently. These are just my own observations, not backed with much research.  Themed Bracelets: In the past two weeks, I have gone to see three shows, and all of them were selling little beaded bracelets. Now, this is something I am LOVING! If you saw my The Outsiders post, you will know how much I loved that show. Being able to bring a little piece of it with me every day is so nice. The Frozen one was part of a charity, so there were several different designs to choose from. I decided on the Let It Go bracelet. At the Notebook, they were also selling a bracelet. Priced at $30, this one did not come home with me. We loved the show, but did not necessarily love the design of the bracelet enough to buy. At the Outsiders, priced at $25, we loved the clear green beads and the beloved Stay Gold letters. As I wear this bracelet today, I love looking down, and being reminded of the wonderful tim...

The Best New Musical is...

Spoiler Alert- This post includes some spoilers for the musical The Outsiders, and therefore the book and movie of the same name. Hello Everyone,  This past weekend, during a trip to New York City, I was lucky enough to see The Outsiders in the front row! To say I enjoyed it is an understatement. To start off, I got tickets by standing in line outside the box office. On exciting thing about this show is their rush and lottery programs! If you are 30 years old or younger, you can wait in the rush lines and buy tickets for $30. This is what I did, and got first row tickets!  Now, I have read the book once last year, as well as seen the movie. I loved both. The story is extremely heartwarming, as well as extremely devastating. A combination every great musical has. While sitting in my seat, the first thing I noticed was the usher walking us to our seats. As we sat down, he very casually mentioned to keep the area in front of us clear, as well as told us that during some of the sc...
