The Christmas Charade

Hi everyone!

I wanted to get back into writing, so thought I would switch up my topics a bit. Something fun about myself is I love Hallmark movies! I decided to put my Hallmark+ subscription to good use, and watch all 30 something 2024 Countdown to Christmas movies. I also couldn't find any rankings of these movies that didn't rate them based on how much "woke nonsense" they had in them, which is an utterly terrible and hateful way to rank love stories.

Here is a clip from the movie!

Our first review of is the movie Christmas Charade!

I watched this one last night, and my rating is a 9.5, which is the second highest I have given so far. I have watched 16 over the last 7 months. I will include all of them in my official ranking when I am done, but probably won't do full reviews of them all.

Christmas Charade follows Whitney, an elementary school librarian, who is looking for a little adventure in her life. Her friend sets Whitney up on a date with Mark, a cousin of her fiancee. When she goes to meet up with Mark, who is dressed in a green sweater, she ends up at the wrong table, with the wrong guy in a green sweater. This is Josh, an FBI agent, is working to prevent a priceless necklace from being stolen. He assumes Whitney is the agent he is waiting for, who will be pretending to be his girlfriend during the lunch. However, Whitney ends up at his table, and entangled in his lies. After the mixup, Whitney is bound to the mission because the accused thief has already seen her.

The rest of the movie is filled with some spy movie cliches, but also some really sweet moments between Whitney and Josh. One moment that I really disliked was watching Mark's sadness when Whitney doesn't arrive for their date. Mark's email is Marklovescats1922, which is so cute, and I am sad we didn't get to see more of him.

I really liked Whitneys character. I didn't find her overly confident or sarcastic to the point it was annoying. She was overall just likable, and I thought she was very believable in her doubts and thought processes within the movie.

Josh was also likable, which is pretty difficult since he can be pretty rude at times. I thought his development from rude and dismissive to the character you are rooting for by the end. Together, I thought they worked really well. They seemed natural and I really loved the final moment, which I won't spoil.

Were there some moments that were a little silly, yes. Overall though, this movie was really cute and reminded me why I love Hallmark movies, and is totally cozy and cute.

Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to write more of these.

  1. I feel that Hallmark movie was a 9 out of 10 for me. Some silliness but I think that was the point. Characters were great.
